August 2024 Kitsap Providers Breakfast

August 09, 20242 min read

Dear Friend,

The Kitsap Providers Breakfast will bask in the summertime weather on August 20th,  8:30 to 10:00 am at Wyatt House, 186 Wyatt Way NW Bainbridge Island, WA. Our hosts, Lori Dreier and Carrie Chavez have asked me to ask you if you could consider car pooling to save on street parking space. Parking might also be found in The Pavilion parking lot nearby.

The featured guest speaker will be Jacob Chymiy of Donate Kitsap or Kitsap Moving. Jacob will explain how his organization helps seniors with downsizing and moving.

Special thanks to Lisa Marshall at Cascades for hosting the July meeting. A traffic accident on Highway 3 presented an unexpected challenge but Lisa and her team handled the emergency well with an excellent result. The special guest speaker was Kaylee Berry-Reich, MSW, LICSW Geriatric Mental Health Professional, Senior Behavioral Health Solutions, PLLC. Kaylee is a good storyteller. It was both compelling and educational to hear how she handled one resident in a community who suffered from severe depression upon entering his new life. Her interest, testing and follow through improved his life (and the other residents in the community).

I look forward to your story at the next meeting. Your suggestions and comments are always welcome. Bring a friend.

Please, I Would Like Your Opinion

In April of this year, I filmed five pilot episodes for a program that I am producing on the topic of seniors. If you have a few moments, please view episode one and give me your feedback. I will be looking for other experts to interview in their field specialty. As always, I appreciate your support.

Don’t Forget

The Alzheimer's Walk for Kitsap County is Asking for Our Help

Maddy Carr and Erica Grissmerson of the Washington Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association have invited our help to make the Kitsap Alzheimer's Walk a success. It will take place on September 21 at Silverdale Waterfront Park. It’s not too late to sign up. This is an opportunity for senior communities to connect their residents with an active, outdoor, fun activity and lend support to research for this debilitating condition. Some of the funds contributed to the Alzheimer's Association are spent to provide free services to individuals, families, care givers and senior communities who are facing the challenge of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

We will be updating you as we progress.
