Resources & Tips To Learn How You Can Plan and Prepare for Long-Term Care
Return to Poulsbo with breakfast, community and networking on Tuesday, May 21st at Liberty Shores Senior Living, 19360 Viking Way NW, Poulsbo, WA 98370. Our gathering begins at 8:40 am and ends at 10:00 am. Candace Meadows, Kay Pursey, Deanna Hilse and the competent team at Liberty Shores will host the event. Like most senior communities of their size the work is done often by a large team of caregivers, not all of which I am able to meet. Many thanks to everyone at Liberty Shores who do the hard work of caring or people who are no longer able to care for themselves.
Our featured guests for the meeting will include Angela Saffrey, Branch Manager on Bainbridge Island and Lori Larson of First Fed. They will present information about the intimidating array of scams perpetrated against seniors in today’s world and what we all can do to fight against them.
Our gathering at Madrona House hosted by Carrie Chavez, a new breakfaster, was a special event. The featured guest Johanna Munson, Peace of Mind Guide gave a heartfelt presentation of her work with seniors in dealing with the very real and immediate concerns aboutf end of life. Her poignant description of her interaction with her parents at their end of life prompted many in the group to share personal thoughts and observations that likely brought a tear to the eye for everyone. It was an impactful reminder of perhaps the most difficult aspect of the work that all of you do in helping seniors.
Thank you again for what you do.
Maddy Carr and Erica Grissmerson of the Washington Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association have invited our help to make the Kitsap Alzheimer's Walk a success. It will take place on September 21 at Silverdale Waterfront Park. This is an opportunity for senior communities to connect their residents with an active, outdoor, fun activity and lend support to research for this debilitating condition. Some of the funds contributed to the Alzheimer's Association are spent to provide free services to individuals, families, care givers and senior communities who are facing the challenge of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.
We will be updating you as we progress.
The June breakfast will be held June 18th at Liberty Place in Port Orchard, August 20th at Madison House, Bainbridge Island, September 17th at The Willows in Bremerton, and October 15th returning to Liberty Shores in Poulsbo. Hosting opportunities are available for July, November and December. If you would like to host the breakfast at your community, just contact me to discuss details.
Thanks to all who have and will host.
