Care Home Money Today Nextchapter
A senior and family member planning the next step together

Choosing care is hard. The house usually makes it harder.

Most families we meet already know Mom or Dad needs more help. What keeps them up at night is everything tangled up with it:

  • How do we pay for care while the house is still unsold?
  • What happens to fifty years of furniture, photos and keepsakes?
  • Do we fix up the house, or sell it as-is?
  • How do we decide together when the family is spread out?

We untangle all four under one plan, with one person you can call.

Five separate vendors, or one coordinated plan.

Families often hire a realtor, a move manager, an estate-sale company and a cleaning crew, then become the project manager themselves. Here’s the difference.

How a Silver Bridge transition works

A clear path from first conversation to settled in, so everyone in the family knows what happens next.

  1. 1

    Family assessment

We listen to your loved one’s story and meet with family, friends and advisors to understand needs, wishes and finances.

  2. 2

    Care plan

We connect you with trusted placement, elder-law and financial advisors so the care decision is made with confidence.

  3. 3

    Home and contents plan

Scope of work, budget and schedule for repairs, estate sale, donations, cleaning and packing.

  4. 4

    Funding and move

Bridge funds cover costs before the sale. We manage the move and sell the home for the best net result.

  5. 5

    Settled in

We complete the job professionally and completely, and stay available to the family afterward.

  • A fixed closing date

Need money before the house sells?

Loans are available to pay for moving, care deposits and other transition expenses while the home is still on the market.

Jim Freeman, founder of Silver Bridge Senior Transitions

Meet Jim Freeman, the person you’ll actually talk to

I started Silver Bridge after moving my own parents into care. I saw how few resources families have, and how much of it comes down to the house.

Jim has worked in real estate since 1974, across development, finance, construction, sales and leasing. He has sold more than 600 homes and helped dozens of families move a loved one to a higher level of care. He founded Silver Bridge in Port Orchard in 2020 and hosts the monthly Kitsap Provider Breakfast for the county’s senior-care professionals.

Questions families ask us first

Don’t see yours? Call (360) 865-0507 and ask Jim directly.

Do your transition services really cost nothing extra?

Yes. Our transition services are complimentary to the sale of your loved one’s home. Planning, coordination of the estate sale, clean-out and move, and referrals to advisors are covered through the real estate transaction, so there’s no separate bill for them.

Should Mom sell the house before or after moving into assisted living?

It depends on her care timeline, her finances and the condition of the home. We review both options with the family and pick the one that leaves the most money for care. Bridge funding can cover expenses so she doesn’t have to wait for the sale to move.

How do we pay for care and moving costs before the house sells?

Loans are available to pay transition expenses before the home sells, such as moving costs and care-community deposits. They are repaid from the sale proceeds.

Can you buy the house as-is?

When it truly maximizes your loved one’s assets, we can make a cash offer: as-is, leave the belongings, all fees and commissions paid by us, closing within weeks. In most cases an owner-occupant buyer pays more, so we usually recommend a market sale.

What happens to the furniture and belongings?

We coordinate estate sales, donations, disposal, cleaning, packing and moving through trusted local partners, and help the family decide what to keep, share and let go.

Do you help us choose an assisted living or memory care community?

We refer you to trusted care-placement advisors, elder-law attorneys and financial advisors from our Washington senior-care network, then coordinate the home and the move around the decision.

I live out of state. Can you still help?

Yes. Many of our families coordinate from afar. You’ll have one point of contact, and we communicate regularly with every family member, friend and advisor involved.

What areas do you serve?

Port Orchard and the whole Kitsap Peninsula, including Bremerton, Silverdale, Poulsbo, Gig Harbor and Bainbridge Island.

What is the first step?

Book a free 20-minute family call. We’ll learn your situation, answer questions and, if it’s a fit, schedule an in-depth assessment with everyone involved.

Start with a free 20-minute family call

No pressure and no obligation. Bring whoever is part of the decision. On the call we’ll talk through:

  • Who is involved in the decision
